Solastalgia (n.) a from of homesickness and existential distress caused by environmental change. The world no longer exists as it once did. The environment is no longer the same.
Instructions
Step 1: Don’t directly mention the words ‘environment’ or ‘climate change’ to avoid scaring people away. Now that you know what these cards are about, kudos to you if you’re still here.
Step 2: Come up with a solution that temporarily alleviates the adverse side effects of a sick planet. By treating the symptoms rather than the cause, cooperation can remain happy. It’s those who are less better off who are more likely to suffer first anyway
Step 3: Be careful not to mention that if the very source of our collective existence is deteriorating, it won’t follow human systems of inequality forever. If you do accidentally mention that environmental degradation affects us all, don’t worry. Most will likely deny it or be too complacent to change anyway.
Step 4: Come up with small attainable goals to soothe those who may feel some environmental guilt. One hour a year for earth day is the perfect example. 2 hours a year is too unrealistic. Bonus points if you are also able to keep off your cell phone during this time.
